Kayak Guide/Transport driver, Cycle and General Maintenance
This is a varied position for our kayak operation and is ideal for someone who is passionate about the outdoors and loves sharing their skills and knowledge with other people. Kayak guiding will involve out trips of short duration of 1 – 2 hours. In addition fishing rod, bicycle and general facility maintenance will be required. Some driving and general grounds maintenance will be required and guides will be expected to work in the restaurant and do housekeeping when required.
- Desirable Qualifications: Sea Kayak Proficiency award, First Aid Certificate, Passenger service licence for small vehicles (up to 12 seater), Bike Maintenance experience (training will be given)
- Duration: November 1st to Easter
General Staff – 2 positions
This position would be ideal for a bright person able to cover a multitude of tasks from table waiting, bar service to housekeeping, cleaning and laundry in a superb wilderness location. The mix of tasks makes for an interesting and varied day that will keep you buzzing till the end.
- Experience: Waiting tables, bar work, and/or barista experience. Housekeeping experience desirable though not essential. Good computer skills and Excellent spoken English essential.
- Duration: Mid-November to Easter
- Hours: 30 - 60 hours per week
Reception/General Staff
We're looking for a multi-tasker with an outgoing personality to help in reception and serve guests. Check in and check out are some of our busiest times during the day and in between there are plenty of trips to arrange, shop sales to make, restaurant bookings to organise and administrative bits and pieces as well as a busy phone and constant e-mail bookings. This is a busy post and the nerve centre of the business.
Excellent personal communication skills and the willingness to take responsibility are essential. Part of the position involves room checks to ensure that standards are maintained in rooms throughout the site prior to guests check in. There is a high level of cash handling so good basic math ability is essential. On most days there will be waitering work and housekeeping.
- Qualifications required: Not required though must be numerate and be able to speak extremely good English.
- Experience: Previous customer experience essential
- Duration: Mid-November to Easter
- Hours: 40 - 60 plus hours per week
Work Exchange
If you are short on time but would like to spend a few weeks at Kinloch, ask about our work exchange opportunities. Work Exchangers are an essential part of the Kinloch Team and keep up running during the busy times. Duties usually include housekeeping, gardening and laundry, but if you have special talents we can use on our current projects (mainly winter), we'll try put you to work doing what you love. We need bright, flexible, positive people who enjoy being part of the team and don't mind pitching in a lending a hand when needed.
Work exchangers work 4 hours per day in exchange for room and board. The other 20 hours of the day are yours to explore the lake and mountains that surround us. Other perks include free use of kayaks, mountain bikes, laundry and internet.
Additional paid hours may be available during our busier times.
